Soccer: To Play or Not to Play?

Well on the day of Hannah's 4th birthday, the JD Parks and Rec soccer program began.  The program is for 4-7 year olds, Hannah being the youngest.  We've been through two weeks of practices, 2x a week.  Hannah is into practicing as long as we are by her side.  She just doesn't want to do it without us.  Each practice we get a bit further away (i.e., hand holding, to standing beside her, to helping with the relay's, and eventually on the sidelines).

This week began the actual games.  We informed Hannah that mom and dad couldn't be on the field with her and so she has proceeded to holding the coach's hand the whole game.  We've had a few tears, as she isn't into the whole contact sport thing, but she pushes through, and so do we.  Possibly by the end of the season she'll decide she likes it, I don't know?  But quitting mid-way through is not an option, or a characteristic we wish to instill in our child.  Stay tuned for more photos and video.

*New Video Below*
Hannah's got passed the part of holding coach's hand on the field and now runs with the pack, but still isn't into kicking the ball much.   Hannah and another young girl, are just that - girls, and would rather be playing with their braids, and dancing around.

This brings back memories of Campbell's first try at soccer - we are in her third run and she now loves it and no more hand holding (or crying or running off the field in her case)
